2006 Tempranillo

The 2006 vintage was exceptionally good. A long and relatively cool growing season produced excellent fruit with smooth tannins and good acid. We added just a touch of malbec to the tempranillo this year. The wine has beautiful dark-fruit flavors with hints of chocolate and vanilla, smooth tannins and a long finish. The 2006 is more approachable at this stage than was the 2005. It is drinking very well now (we recommend decanting) and should gain in complexity over the next three to five years.
